Welcome Jaton “Jay” Justice, DataKind’s DevOps Engineer
July 25, 2022

We’re very excited to introduce you to Jaton “Jay” Justice, DataKind’s DevOps Engineer!

Hailing from Los Angeles, Jay brings more than 10 years of experience in information technology, including IT support, automation scripting, and project management. At DataKind, he’ll support multiple simultaneous data science project teams, strengthening and keeping secure DataKind’s existing cloud development and production environments. Prior to DataKind, he helped companies automate processes in their IT operations; from building new script workflow processes to creating web applications. We couldn’t be happier to have him as he’ll no doubt be an asset in supporting DataKind as we grow our roster of sustainable digital public good products.

Check out more about Jay below, and join us in giving him the warmest of DataKind welcomes!

What were you up to before DataKind?

Recently, I was the DevOps Engineer for AlloySystems, a managed service provider for over 200 different companies around the world (mostly based in the US), working with different industries such as law, heath, nonprofit, and real estate to help manage their IT and cloud infrastructure needs. I worked with companies to support their cloud infrastructure and developed new automation and web technologies.

Why are you excited to join DataKind?

I’ve always wanted to help change the world by using technology in a positive way, and DataKind does just that. We’re helping the world by working with partners to develop innovative technologies, harnessing the power of data science and AI in the service of humanity. So many different projects where we’ve made a positive social impact in the world. From helping to build a model that can help reduce traffic-related deaths to developing a methodology to reduce hate speech content, knowing how much DataKind has helped communities has me personally very excited.

What do you like to do in your free time?

You can find me playing video games like Elden Ring, StarCraft II, or any new game that’s well made. I workout too and do basic martial arts tricking. Also, I like to watch YouTube videos that are funny but useful like Tech with Tim, Ben Awad, and (all educational!).

Join us in advancing the use of data science to support causes that can help make the world a better place.
