DataDives are high energy, marathon-style events where mission-driven organizations work alongside teams of volunteer data scientists, developers, and designers to use data to gain insight into their programs, the communities they serve and more. All in 48 hours or less.
Three projects are currently being scoped with Taproot Foundation and KIPP. Check out case studies from last year’s DataDive with Teradata to get a sense of the type of work you might do.
Dozens of socially conscious analysts, statisticians, data scientists, coders, hackers, designers, and eager-to-learn do-gooders! A Data Ambassador and Project Manager prep and scope each project, then oversee the work that gets done. As a volunteer, you can attend the full DataDive or just a few hours, stick with one team or rotate to try your hand at multiple projects. It’s a fun way to build skills, build friendships and make a big difference in just one weekend.
Yes! Actually DataDives are often just the beginning of a beautiful friendship with DataKind. For example, Crisis Text Line first participated in a DataDive, making quantifiable improvements to their efficiency after just 2 days, then went on to do a long-term DataCorps project with us, enabling them to scale their impact and serve 26,000 more people in 2015 than before. You don’t need to be registered for the conference to attend, just sign up here and we’ll see you in October.
