Welcoming Cloudera and Informatica to the family!

November 11, 2014

Last month, we were thrilled to announce that Cloudera, the leader in enterprise analytic data management powered by Apache Hadoop™ and Informatica Corporation, the world’s number one independent provider of data integration software are partnering to support DataKind in growing the Data-for-Good movement. As DataKind sponsors, Cloudera and Informatica will jointly fund DataKind programs and projects aimed at improving the use of data in the social sector. Check out the full press releases on the Cloudera and Informatica websites.

We are honored to welcome these industry leaders to the DataKind family and are so grateful for their support. Their support means more nonprofits will team up with data scientists to tackle the world's biggest problems and learn about how data science can advance their missions.

This agreement augments the great work these two dynamic organizations have been doing in the Data-for-Good movement. Together, these two companies employ over 5,000 people, including many talented data scientists with incredibly valuable skills. Cloudera has already been doing some amazing data-for-good work, for example analyzing linguistic data to help at risk-veterans and partnering with Intel and the Michael J. Fox Foundation to fight Parkinson's through disease monitoring. Additionally, Informatica has a focus on improving student education and youth development through the company’s Informatica Involved program.  We look forward to finding more ways of engaging this immense pool of data experts towards making the world a better place!

As we often say, DataKind’s success depends on the incredible people in our network coming together, crossing boundaries and collaborating.  With Cloudera and Informatica now in the DataKind family, our network just got a whole lot stronger.
