July 30, 2014

A HUGE congratulations to DataKind volunteers, Kush Varshney and Brian Abelson, and GiveDirectly's Joy Sun for being selected as the "Best Paper for Social Good" at KDD this year for their DataCorps project!

Brian and Kush worked with GiveDirectly to create an algorithm that uses satellite images to help staff more efficiently identify villages in need.

Going to KDD?  Check out their talk, Targeting Direct Cash Transfers to the Extremely Poor on August 26, 10:30am-12pm.
