What were you up to before DataKind?

Prior to DataKind, I led strategic communications efforts as the second hire and first Director of Communications at Epic Foundation, a global nonprofit startup that backs outstanding nonprofits and social innovation to change the lives of disadvantaged youth. I was deeply involved in all aspects of operating the foundation: sales, branding, PR, and program development. One of my proudest achievements was spearheading our “Doing Well By Doing Good” campaign, which involved an ongoing interview series in partnership with the Huffington Post. The series shines a spotlight on individuals – from Steve Case to Annie Lennox – who have made significant progress in addressing major social problems as part of their core business strategy. After Epic, I consulted clients in the social impact and tech space over the past few years, while nurturing my creative projects.

Why are you excited to join DataKind?

As an activist, I’m excited to join a team and community of  changemakers who are committed to putting data science and AI in the hands of values-aligned institutions.

What do you like to do in your free time?

Building and supporting ideas, communities, and practices that inspire deep thinking, social courage, and joy! Also, I love spending time with my loved ones, being in nature as much as possible, and nurturing my double Sagittarius side through travel, adventure, and curiosity.
